Terminal 1 at Cologne Bonn Airport is a distinctive 1970s structure, characterized by its extensive use of bare concrete. This terminal is primarily dedicated to handling domestic flights and is home to major airlines such as Eurowings, Lufthansa, and Austrian Airlines. The terminal features a U-shaped main building that houses a variety of shops, restaurants, check-in and service facilities, as well as a visitors deck on its roof.
The terminal's layout includes the star-shaped piers B and C, each with five aircraft stands equipped with jet bridges, plus a central airside hall added in 2004. This hall provides joint security-check facilities, additional shops and restaurants, and three more stands, totaling 13 stands, with 10 featuring jet bridges and the remaining three using walk-boarding. Additionally, there are several bus-boarding stands available on the apron.
Passengers can easily access Terminal 1 via its direct connection to the airport's railway station, ensuring convenient transit to and from the terminal.
