Aeroflot: Aircraft Fleet
Aeroflot is the flag carrier and largest airline of the Russian Federation. The airline operates a fleet of modern aircraft that includes Airbus, Boeing, and Sukhoi Superjet planes. Aeroflot has a total of 243 aircraft in its fleet.
The Airbus A320 family is the backbone of Aeroflot's fleet, with 78 aircraft in operation. The airline also operates 22 Airbus A330 planes for long-haul flights. In addition, Aeroflot has 50 Boeing 737 aircraft and 16 Boeing 777 planes. The airline also has 17 Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes, which are manufactured in Russia.
Aeroflot has made significant deals in recent years to expand and modernize its fleet. In 2018, the airline signed a contract with Boeing for the purchase of 20 737 MAX planes. However, due to safety concerns with the aircraft, Aeroflot cancelled the order in 2019. In 2020, the airline signed a new agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 777-300ER planes, which are expected to be delivered in 2021.
In addition to its own fleet, Aeroflot also has a subsidiary airline called Rossiya Airlines, which operates a fleet of 60 aircraft. Rossiya Airlines primarily operates domestic flights within Russia, as well as some international flights to destinations in Europe and Asia.
