Air Europa: Aircraft Fleet
Air Europa is a Spanish airline that operates a fleet of modern and efficient aircraft to serve its passengers. The airline has a total of 52 aircraft in its fleet, which consists of both narrow-body and wide-body planes.
The most common aircraft type in Air Europa's fleet is the Boeing 737, with a total of 24 planes. The airline also operates 11 Airbus A330 planes, which are used for long-haul flights to destinations such as New York, Miami, and Buenos Aires. In addition, Air Europa has 8 Embraer E195 planes, which are used for regional flights within Europe.
Recently, Air Europa has made significant deals to expand and modernize its fleet. In 2018, the airline signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase 20 737 MAX planes, which are more fuel-efficient and have a longer range than previous models. However, due to the grounding of the 737 MAX following two fatal crashes, the delivery of these planes has been delayed.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Air Europa remains committed to its fleet expansion plans. In 2020, the airline announced that it had reached an agreement with Airbus to lease 8 A330neo planes, which are expected to be delivered in 2022 and will replace some of the older A330 planes in the fleet.
