Air France Pet Policy

Air France is committed to making air travel convenient for pet owners. As a pet-friendly carrier, Air France allows pets on board their flights, following a reservation process that's as simple as contacting Air France's Telephone Sales Team at (800) 237-2747. This ensures your furry friend is assured of a spot in your journey.

Dogs and cats are allowed in the cabin, provided their combined weight, along with the carrier, is less than 17 lbs (8 kg). Each passenger is allowed to travel with one pet in the cabin. The cabin pet fee varies depending on the flight destination, with the lowest fee being 30 EUR for flights within the Caribbean, and the highest 125 EUR for certain other flights.

For pets weighing between 17-165 lbs (8-75 kg), Air France offers transportation in the hold. A maximum of three animals per passenger is permitted on each flight. The fee for this service also varies depending on the destination, ranging from 75 EUR for flights within the Caribbean or between France and selected destinations, up to 400 EUR for other flights.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

If your pet and carrier combined weigh more than 165 lbs (75 kg), they will need to be transported by freight. For details on this process and associated costs, you can contact the Air France Customer Service team via email at [email protected].

Pets traveling in the cabin must be housed in a specific travel bag that does not exceed 18" x 11" x 9" (46 cm x 28 cm x 24 cm). For your comfort, Air France recommends using a flexible bag. Pets in the hold must be transported in a carrier made of hard plastic or fiberglass with enough space for the animal to stand and turn around comfortably. The carrier should also have separate compartments for food and water.

There are certain limitations to be mindful of, especially if you have snub-nosed breeds such as pugs, boxers, bulldogs, Shih Tzus, Persian or Burmese cats. Due to medical concerns, these breeds are not allowed in the hold. Furthermore, for the transport of an emotional support dog, a request must be made at least 48 hours before departure. Pets must be at least 15 weeks old to travel with Air France.

As policies can be subject to change, it's recommended to confirm the most recent pet policies with Air France directly before booking. This ensures that you have the most accurate and up-to-date information to prepare for your travel.
