Checked Baggage
The checked baggage allowance for Airasia varies depending on the fare type and destination. For domestic flights within Malaysia, the base fare does not include any checked baggage allowance. Passengers can choose to add baggage during the booking process or later through the Manage My Booking option. The weight limit for each checked bag is 20 kg (44 lbs), and the maximum dimensions should not exceed 81cm x 119cm x 119cm (32in x 47in x 47in).
For international flights, the checked baggage allowance is included in the fare. Passengers traveling to destinations within Asia (excluding Japan) are allowed 20 kg (44 lbs) of checked baggage. For flights to Japan, the allowance increases to 30 kg (66 lbs). The maximum dimensions for checked bags on international flights are the same as for domestic flights.
Extra, Oversized, and Special Items
Airasia provides specific guidelines and fees for extra, oversized, and special items. Sporting equipment such as golf bags, bicycles, and surfboards are subject to additional charges and must be properly packed and labeled. Musical instruments can be carried on board if they meet the carry-on baggage size and weight limits. If they exceed these limits, they must be checked in as oversized baggage.
It is important to note that air carriers often change the details of these rules and requirements, so be sure to check directly with Airasia on the day you are flying for the most accurate information. Additionally, members of Airasia's frequent flier program may have additional baggage allowances or benefits, so it is advisable to review the program's terms and conditions for any special considerations.
By familiarizing yourself with Airasia's baggage rules, limits, and fees, you can ensure a stress-free travel experience and avoid any unnecessary charges or complications. Pack smartly, follow the guidelines, and enjoy your journey with Airasia!
