Cape Air Pet Policy

Cape Air is a pet-friendly airline that allows passengers to travel with their beloved pets. Whether you have a cat, dog, rabbit, or household bird, you can bring them along in the cabin with you. Cape Air even permits multiple live animals from the same family on the same aircraft, so your furry friends can stay together during the journey.

When traveling with your pet on Cape Air, there are a few important guidelines to keep in mind. The maximum weight allowed for animals is 80 lbs (36 kg). To ensure the comfort and safety of your pet, carriers must not exceed specific dimensions. For pets traveling in the Cessna 402 Aircraft, carriers must not exceed 28" x 20.5" x 20.5" (71 cm x 52 cm x 52 cm). For pets traveling in the ATR42 Aircraft, carriers must not exceed 40" x 27" x 30" (101 cm x 68 cm x 76 cm).

If you are traveling between Hyannis, New Bedford, Nantucket, or Martha's Vineyard, pets may be transported with or without a carrier as long as they do not exceed 35 lbs (16 kg). During the flight, smaller pets may be carried on the passenger's lap. However, for larger pets that exceed 35 lbs (16 kg), they must be properly restrained with a leash or harness, usually behind the last row of seats.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

It is important to note that Cape Air only accepts one pet per flight. So if you are planning to travel with your furry friend, make sure to make a reservation in advance to secure their spot.

For the convenience of pet owners, Cape Air charges a fee of $30 each way for this service. This fee ensures that your pet receives the necessary care and attention throughout the journey.

While Cape Air welcomes pets on most of its flights, there are a few restrictions and limitations to be aware of. Pets are not accepted for travel on any flight to/from Culebra, Puerto Rico (CPX), Virgin Gorda, BVI (VIJ), or Nevis, WI (NEV). Additionally, pets are not allowed on the Britten Norman Islander aircraft.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with Cape Air before you book for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
