Egyptair Pet Policy

Egyptair provides a comprehensive pet policy to accommodate the needs of pet owners. In order to secure a comfortable journey for your furry friends, it is essential to make your reservations well in advance, as only two animals are allowed in each class in the cabin. If you are planning a trip with your pet, reach out to the Reservations Department at (+1) 212-581-5600 to ensure a place for your beloved pet on your flight.

For those who prefer to have their pets close, Egyptair permits pets in the passenger cabin, as long as the combined weight of the pet and its carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Only one pet per carrier is allowed, and each passenger is allowed to bring just one carrier on board. A fee, which ranges between $30-300 depending on your destination, will be charged for animals weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg). Note that for flights to/from Canada and the USA, the fee rises to 150% of the standard excess baggage fee.

If your pet is a little on the larger side and exceeds the cabin weight limit, don't worry. Egyptair also accommodates pets as checked baggage. However, keep in mind that the maximum combined weight of pets and their carriers in the hold cannot exceed 99 lbs (45 kg). Similar to cabin rules, fees are based on weight and destination. Additionally, pets that exceed the 99 lbs (45 kg) limit for the hold may be transported as cargo. You can contact the Egyptair Cargo Department's New York Office at 212-581-5600 for further details.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

Regarding carrier dimensions, for pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not exceed 21" x 16" x 8" (55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm). For those in the hold, the carrier should be large enough for the animal to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.

Be aware of several restrictions Egyptair imposes for pet travel. Cats and dogs must be at least 8 weeks old, and certain destinations such as the United Kingdom, South Africa, Kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Yemen, New Zealand, and Australia only accept pets as cargo. Larger pets weighing more than 70 lbs (32 kg) cannot travel on flights to Spain, Tunisia, or Tanzania. Lastly, Embraer E170 aircrafts do not accept pets as checked baggage. If you're connecting via Frankfurt airport, an additional fee of 300 EUR may be charged for connections over 3 hours.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with Egyptair before you book, for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
