Flydubai: Aircraft Fleet
Flydubai is a low-cost airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As of August 2021, the airline operates a fleet of 50 Boeing 737 aircraft, with an average age of 5.3 years.
The Flydubai fleet consists of the following aircraft types:
- Boeing 737-800: 44
- Boeing 737 MAX 8: 6
In 2013, Flydubai signed a deal with Boeing for the purchase of up to 111 aircraft, including 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and 11 Boeing 737-800s. The deal was valued at $11.4 billion at list prices, making it the largest single-aisle jet order in the Middle East.
However, in March 2019, following the crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, which involved a Boeing 737 MAX 8, Flydubai grounded its fleet of MAX 8s. The airline later cancelled its order for 65 MAX 8s, citing the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the aircraft's return to service.
Despite the setback, Flydubai has continued to expand its network and currently serves over 90 destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
