Frontier Airlines History
Frontier Airlines is an American ultra-low-cost carrier that was founded on February 8, 1994. The airline initially started as a regional carrier based in Denver, Colorado, providing flights to destinations within a few states. However, over the years, Frontier Airlines has grown to become a major player in the aviation industry, offering flights to various domestic and international destinations.
Frontier Airlines underwent several ownership changes throughout its history. In 2001, the airline was acquired by the low-cost carrier, Republic Airways Holdings. Under Republic Airways' ownership, Frontier Airlines expanded its route network and modernized its fleet, making it more competitive in the market.
In 2013, Frontier Airlines faced financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy. As a result, the airline went through a restructuring process and emerged as an ultra-low-cost carrier. This change in business model allowed Frontier Airlines to offer significantly lower fares compared to traditional carriers, making air travel more affordable for budget-conscious travelers.
