Jeju Air: Aircraft Fleet
Jeju Air is a low-cost airline based in South Korea that operates both domestic and international flights. The airline has a fleet of 39 aircraft, all of which are manufactured by Boeing.
The most common aircraft type in Jeju Air's fleet is the Boeing 737-800, of which they have 35 in operation. They also have four Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes, which were grounded for a period of time due to safety concerns but have since been cleared to fly again.
Jeju Air has made significant deals regarding their aircraft fleet in recent years. In 2018, they signed a deal with Boeing to purchase 50 737 MAX planes, with an option to purchase an additional 10. However, due to the grounding of the MAX planes, the delivery of these aircraft has been delayed.
Despite the setbacks caused by the MAX grounding and the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeju Air has continued to expand its fleet. In 2020, they announced plans to acquire five Boeing 737-800 planes from Air Lease Corporation, with delivery expected in 2021.
