Philippine Airlines Pet Policy

When it comes to traveling with your furry friends, Philippine Airlines has a set of defined guidelines to follow. One of the key requirements is that the accompanying passenger must be at least 12 years old. If you're planning a trip with your pet to Japan, take note that the Animal Bureau Quarantine of Japan needs to be informed about your pet's arrival at least 40 days in advance. And don't forget, you need to get in touch with the airline by phone at (800) 435-9725 within 48 hours prior to your departure to ensure your pet's travel arrangements.

For those who may have hoped to have their pets seated next to them, Philippine Airlines does not allow pets to accompany their owners in the passenger cabin. However, pets are more than welcome to travel as checked baggage on many flights. It's important to understand the fees associated with this mode of travel. For international flights to various destinations like Guam, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, or Japan, pet transport fees are not part of the free baggage allowance and are thus billed as excess baggage.

Details about the charges are as follows: Pets and carriers measuring 80 inches or less, and weighing less than 50 lbs, are charged double the excess baggage fee. If your pet and its carrier measure over 80 inches or weigh more than 50 lbs, you will be billed triple the excess baggage rate. Each additional 20 lbs will attract another excess baggage fee. Domestic flight fees for pets vary from 1000 to 10,000 PHP, based on the size of your pet.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

When it comes to the pet carrier, ensure it's both secure and leak-proof for your pet's journey. Keep in mind that not all breeds are permitted on Philippine Airlines flights due to health risks. The airline prohibits a number of snub-nosed breeds from traveling, including but not limited to the Affenpinscher, Chow Chow, various breeds of Pugs, Bulldogs, and Mastiffs, among others.

Remember that airlines can update these policies at any time, so you should always directly contact Philippine Airlines before you book your flight to get the most current and precise information.
