Qatar Airways Pet Policy

Qatar Airways understands that pets are an important part of many people's lives, which is why they have established a comprehensive pet policy to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals traveling with them. Whether you want to bring your falcon on board or transport your beloved dog or cat as checked baggage, Qatar Airways has options to accommodate your needs.

If you are traveling in the economy class cabin, Qatar Airways allows you to carry one falcon with you. However, please note that a maximum of six falcons are permitted on each aircraft, and country regulations may apply. Unfortunately, dogs and cats are not permitted in the cabin.

If you wish to transport your domesticated dog, cat, or bird, Qatar Airways accepts them as checked baggage. There is no limit to the number of pets that can travel this way, but there may be weight or space limitations based on the type of aircraft. Fees for this service depend on the weight and size of the animal and carrier, ranging from $200 to $450.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

In case your pet exceeds 165 lbs (75 kg), Qatar Airways offers the option to handle them as cargo instead. For more details on this service, you can contact Qatar Airways Cargo at [email protected] or call (404) 761-0600.

When traveling with pets as checked baggage, it is important to ensure that the carriers are well-ventilated, adequately sized, and strong enough to prevent any escape. Pet owners are responsible for supplying food and water for the journey. The maximum dimensions for carriers are as follows: small carriers should not exceed 69" (175 cm), medium carriers should not exceed 85" (217 cm), and large carriers should not exceed 96" (245 cm).

While Qatar Airways strives to accommodate as many pets as possible, there are certain restrictions and limitations in place. Exotic and Persian (Shirazi) cats are not accepted, and the same applies to Greyhound dogs, except for pets. Additionally, the following dog breeds are not allowed: Affenpinscher, Pugs, American Pit Bull Terrier, Bichon Frise, Bulldog (all breeds), Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull Mastiff (English Mastiff), Cane Corso, King Charles Spaniel, Chow Chow, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff), English Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, Japanese Chin, Pekingese, Presa Canario, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Valley Terrier, and French Terrier.

Please note that animals younger than 12 weeks, animals considered too weak to travel, female animals with suckling young, and cats or dogs more than 6 weeks pregnant are also not permitted on board.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with the airline you are traveling on before you book for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
