SpiceJet Airlines Pet Policy

SpiceJet Airlines understands that pets are an important part of your family and they strive to make pet travel as convenient and comfortable as possible. If you are planning to travel with your furry friend, here is everything you need to know about SpiceJet's pet policy.

Pet Reservation Info: Only SpiceJet's B737-800 and 900 aircraft are equipped to transport pets, so it's important to find out the aircraft you are traveling on as soon as possible. You can find out all this information and book Fido's spot on board by contacting the Reservations Team at (+91) 987-18-03333.

Pets in Passenger Cabin: Unfortunately, pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin with SpiceJet. However, they can still travel comfortably in the hold.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

Pets as Checked Baggage: Pets can be transported in the hold as checked baggage with SpiceJet. Each passenger is permitted to travel with 3 carriers in the hold. Usually, pets should be transported independently in a carrier. However, 2 small pets can share a carrier if they weigh less than 22 lbs (10 kg) each, or a mother with offspring younger than 4 months. Please note that animals traveling in the hold are charged an excess baggage fee, which is 300 INR per kg on SpiceJet flights.

Allowed Weights & Dimensions: For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers should not exceed the dimensions of 18" x 18" x 12" (45 cm x 45 cm x 30 cm) and must meet IATA regulations. They should be escape-proof, leak-proof, and have proper ventilation. Carriers must be strong and not easily chewed through. It is important that animals have enough space to lie down, turn around, and move comfortably inside their carrier.

Restrictions & Limitations: While SpiceJet welcomes most pets on board, there are a few breed restrictions in place. The following dog breeds and crosses are not allowed to travel with SpiceJet: All Boxers, Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Spaniels, Akita, Brussels Griffin (Petite Brabancon), Chow Chow, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazillero, Japanese Chin, Pugs, Lhasa Apso, Pekinese, Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, and Tosa. The following cat breeds and crosses are also not allowed on board: Burmese, Exotic, Himalayan, and Persian. Additionally, all pets must be 12 weeks old to qualify for travel on domestic flights.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with the airline you are traveling on before you book for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
