Getting Around BER Airport
Berlin Brandenburg Airport features two main terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, both of which are connected and share airside areas. Terminal 1 is the primary terminal and is U-shaped, consisting of sections A, B, C, and D. This terminal has four public levels: 0, 1, 2, and 3. The check-in area is situated on Level 1, with 118 counters organized into eight clusters, and over 100 self check-in machines available for use. Terminal 2, primarily serving low-cost carriers, is a more basic facility directly connected to Terminal 1's northern pier, providing additional check-in capacity.
The airside area of Terminal 1 includes three piers: the main pier, the north pier, and the south pier. The main pier is 715 meters long and contains 16 jet bridges, while the north and south piers are each 350 meters long. The main pier is divided into two levels: Level 1 for Schengen Area passengers and Level 2 for non-Schengen passengers. The north pier, designed for low-cost carriers, lacks jet bridges and instead features boarding gates with direct apron access. The south pier, previously used by Air Berlin, has nine single-storey jet bridges. Navigating between these areas is straightforward, with clear signage and ample information points available.
For ease of movement within the terminals, passengers can utilize moving walkways and elevators. Additionally, there are multiple lounges available, including a Lufthansa lounge at the north end of the main pier and an airport-operated lounge at the south end. Both lounges offer comfortable waiting areas for eligible passengers. With clearly marked pathways and a well-organized layout, getting around the airport is efficient and manageable for all travelers.

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Passengers departing from Berlin BER Airport can find security checkpoints at various locations throughout the airport terminals. The main security checkpoint is located on the ground floor of Terminal 1, near the check-in counters. There are also additional security checkpoints located in the departure areas of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Passengers who wish to expedite their security screening process can take advantage of the Fast Track lanes available at BER Airport. These lanes are located at the main security checkpoint in Terminal 1 and are accessible to passengers who have purchased Fast Track access or who are traveling in certain classes of service. Fast Track access can be purchased online or at the airport. Additionally, some airlines offer Fast Track access as a complimentary service to their premium passengers.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at the airport is located in the arrival areas of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
