Domestic Area Info & Layout
The Domestic Area at Cairns Airport primarily handles domestic flights and is a hub for major airlines such as Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar. This terminal is designated as Terminal 2 and features five jet bridges and a total of 17 gates, facilitating efficient boarding and deboarding processes for travelers.
Passengers can access the Domestic Area via Airport Avenue off Sheridan Street (Captain Cook Highway), with the terminal located approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) north of the Cairns Central Shopping Centre. The terminal is conveniently positioned about 200 meters (660 feet) from the International Terminal, allowing easy transit between the two via pedestrian walkways.
The Domestic Area is equipped with a variety of amenities to enhance the travel experience, including dining options, retail stores, and comfortable seating areas. Unique to this terminal is its location on reclaimed mangrove swamp, offering travelers a distinct setting and views as they navigate through the airport.
