Getting Around DFW Airport
DFW Airport consists of five terminals arranged in a half-circle layout, which helps to minimize the distance between your car and the airplane. The terminals are labeled A through E, each with a varying number of gates: Terminal A with 26 gates, Terminal B with 45 gates, Terminal C with 29 gates, Terminal D with 33 gates, and Terminal E with 41 gates. This design makes navigating the airport more straightforward, as each terminal is clearly marked and accessible.
To facilitate quick movement between terminals, DFW Airport features the Skylink automated people mover system. This system operates within the secured area of the airport, allowing passengers to travel between gates in an average of seven minutes. Skylink stations are conveniently located in each terminal, making it easy to transfer between flights or explore different parts of the airport.
For international travelers, Terminal D serves as the primary hub, equipped with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities to process arriving passengers. The terminal can also accommodate large aircraft, such as the Airbus A380. Domestic airlines, including American Airlines, have a presence in all terminals, while other domestic and Canadian airlines primarily operate out of Terminal E. Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
DFW Airport has multiple security checkpoints located in each terminal. Terminal A has two checkpoints, one located near gate A8 and the other near gate A38. Terminal B has one checkpoint located near gate B30. Terminal C has two checkpoints, one located near gate C10 and the other near gate C30. Terminal D has two checkpoints, one located near gate D15 and the other near gate D30. Terminal E has one checkpoint located near gate E16. Passengers are advised to arrive early and allow ample time to pass through security.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport offers Fast Track lanes for eligible passengers in each terminal. These lanes are located near the standard security checkpoints and are designated for TSA PreCheck and CLEAR members. Terminal A has a Fast Track lane located near gate A21. Terminal B has a Fast Track lane located near gate B30. Terminal C has a Fast Track lane located near gate C10. Terminal D has a Fast Track lane located near gate D22. Terminal E has a Fast Track lane located near gate E22. Passengers must have the appropriate membership or clearance to use these lanes.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at DFW is located in Terminal D. All international arrivals must pass through this checkpoint before exiting the airport. The checkpoint is located near gate D22 and is staffed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. Passengers are required to present their passport and any necessary travel documents for inspection. The process can take some time, so passengers are advised to plan accordingly and allow ample time for processing.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
At Dallas Fort Worth Airport, the TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints are located in each terminal. The checkpoints are staffed by TSA agents who are responsible for screening passengers and their belongings before they board their flights. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows pre-approved passengers to go through expedited security screening, which can save time and hassle.
