Getting Around DTW Airport
DTW Airport features two main passenger terminals: the McNamara Terminal and the Evans Terminal, each with distinct concourses and amenities. The McNamara Terminal, primarily serving Delta Airlines and its partners, includes three concourses (A, B, and C) with a total of 121 gates. Concourse A is notable for its length, nearly one mile, and includes a people mover called the ExpressTram, which efficiently transports passengers between the north and south ends of the concourse. Additionally, moving walkways are available throughout the concourses to assist with long-distance travel within the terminal.
The McNamara Terminal also features an underground pedestrian walkway known as the Light Tunnel, connecting Concourse A to Concourses B and C. This tunnel is equipped with a dynamic light and music show, enhancing the travel experience. For those who may be sensitive to the light show, there are buttons at each end of the tunnel to temporarily suspend the display. The terminal is well-signposted in English and Japanese, and electronic directories are available to help passengers navigate to their gates, shops, and dining options. These directories can scan boarding passes to provide specific directions and can display information in multiple languages.
The Evans Terminal, also known as Concourse D, serves all non-SkyTeam airlines and features 29 gates. This terminal is equipped with multiple moving walkways to assist passengers in traversing its length. The Evans Terminal also houses its own U.S. Customs & Border Protection inspection facilities on the lower level for international arrivals, ensuring smooth processing for passengers arriving from abroad. Both terminals provide a variety of amenities, including pet relief areas, dining options, and lounges, making navigation and transit through the airport more convenient for all travelers.

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Detroit Metropolitan Airport has multiple security checkpoints located in both the McNamara Terminal and the North Terminal. In the McNamara Terminal, there are two checkpoints located on the ticketing level, one near the Delta Airlines ticket counter and the other near the American Airlines ticket counter. There are also two checkpoints located on the departure level, one near gate A18 and the other near gate A36. In the North Terminal, there are two checkpoints located on the ticketing level, one near the Southwest Airlines ticket counter and the other near the Delta Airlines ticket counter. There are also two checkpoints located on the departure level, one near gate D7 and the other near gate D17.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Passengers who are looking to expedite their security screening process can take advantage of the TSA PreCheck program, which allows for a faster and more efficient screening experience. The TSA PreCheck lanes are available at all security checkpoints in both the McNamara Terminal and the North Terminal. Additionally, the McNamara Terminal offers CLEAR lanes, which provide an even faster screening experience for members of the CLEAR program. The CLEAR lanes are located at the North and South checkpoints on the departure level.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at Detroit Metropolitan Airport is handled by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP facilities are located in the McNamara Terminal and are accessible to arriving international passengers. The CBP facilities include Global Entry kiosks, which allow for expedited processing for pre-approved, low-risk travelers. Additionally, there are Automated Passport Control (APC) kiosks located in both the McNamara Terminal and the North Terminal, which allow U.S. and Canadian citizens to complete their customs declaration and biometric verification electronically.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Detroit Metropolitan Airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints available for passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for eligible passengers, meaning they can keep on their shoes, belts, and light jackets and leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. To be eligible for TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved through the TSA Pre Check program.

Global Entry Locations
Detroit Metropolitan Airport has a Global Entry Enrollment Center located in the McNamara Terminal. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. To apply for Global Entry, travelers must complete an online application and schedule an interview at an enrollment center. The Detroit Metropolitan Airport enrollment center is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.
CLEAR Lane Locations
CLEAR Plus lanes are located at both the Evans Terminal and the McNamara Terminal. In the McNamara Terminal, CLEAR Enrollment is situated near Door 4 on the Departures level of the McNamara security checkpoint.

Baggage Claim Areas
the airport has multiple baggage claim areas located in both the McNamara Terminal and North Terminal. The baggage claim areas are easily accessible and well-marked with signs. Passengers can find their baggage carousel number on the flight information display screens located throughout the terminals. Baggage carts are available for use near the baggage claim areas for a fee.
