Navigating the Airport
"If you’re flying Delta, American, or United, you'll be in Concourse A. Make sure to follow the overhead signs, which are very clear and will guide you to your gate quickly. Also, there are interactive maps near the information desks that can be really helpful if you get turned around." — John D., Grand Rapids, MI, January 2024
"For those connecting flights, the terminal layout is quite user-friendly. Just keep an eye out for the color-coded signs that direct you to different concourses. It’s a small airport, so you won’t need to walk far." — Emily R., Kentwood, MI, February 2024

The Gerald R Ford Airport has multiple security checkpoints located throughout the airport. The main security checkpoint is located in the main terminal, near the ticket counters. There are also additional security checkpoints located in Concourse A and Concourse B for passengers departing from those gates. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening.

The Gerald R Ford Airport offers a TSA PreCheck program for eligible passengers, which allows them to use the expedited security screening lanes. The TSA PreCheck lanes are located at the main security checkpoint in the main terminal and in Concourse A. The CLEAR lanes are located at the main security checkpoint in the main terminal. Both programs require pre-enrollment and a fee, but can save passengers valuable time and hassle at the airport.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
The Gerald R Ford Airport does not have international flights, so there are no passport or immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers traveling internationally will go through customs and immigration at their port of entry into the United States.

At Grand Rapids Airport, TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints are available to help expedite the security screening process.
