Getting Around TIJ Airport
The airport features a multi-story passenger terminal that handles both domestic and international flights. Upon entering the terminal, travelers will find the ground floor dedicated to arrivals and check-in services. This area includes a baggage claim section, an arrivals hall, car rental services, taxi stands, snack bars, and souvenir shops. The first floor is the main hub for departures, featuring a security checkpoint and an airside corridor that leads to Concourses A and B.
Concourse A, primarily serving domestic flights, includes nine gates. Gates 1-5 are on the top floor and are equipped with jet bridges, while gates 6-9 are on the ground floor, where passengers board directly from the apron. Concourse A also offers sitting areas, shops, and food stands to make your wait more comfortable. Airlines such as Aeromexico, Volaris, Magnicharters, and Calafia Airlines operate from this concourse.
Concourse B accommodates both domestic and international flights and has a similar layout to Concourse A. It features eight gates: gates 10-14 on the top floor with jet bridges, and gates 15-18 on the ground floor for apron boarding. This concourse also includes sitting areas, food stands, and duty-free shops. Airlines operating from Concourse B include Aeromexico, Viva Aerobus, and Volaris. Additionally, the top floor of the terminal houses the entrance vestibule for passengers arriving from the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) terminal in San Diego, leading to Mexican immigration and customs facilities.

Navigating the Airport
"If you're flying domestically, make sure to head to Concourse A. Gates 1-5 are on the top floor with jet bridges, and gates 6-9 are on the ground floor for apron boarding. It's a bit less crowded than Concourse B, and the signage is pretty clear." — Carlos M., Rosarito, MX, January 2024
"For international flights, Concourse B is where you need to be. The top floor has gates 10-14 with jet bridges, while gates 15-18 are on the ground floor. Don't forget to check the interactive map on the airport's website to plan your route ahead." — Maria G., Tecate, MX, March 2024

"For a smoother experience, make sure your liquids and electronics are easily accessible. The security staff at TIJ are efficient, but being prepared can speed things up for everyone." — Sofia P., San Ysidro, CA, May 2024
Baggage

"If you’re arriving internationally, remember that your bags might take a bit longer to arrive due to customs checks. Patience is key, and keeping an eye on the display screens helps." — Ana V., Imperial Beach, CA, July 2024
