Getting Around VIE Airport
Vienna International Airport is structured with four terminal buildings: Terminals 1, 2, and 3, which are interconnected, and Terminal 1A, which stands alone opposite Terminal 1. Terminal 3 serves as the central arrivals hall. Each terminal facilitates access to various concourses, making navigation relatively straightforward. Here are some tips for moving inside the airport:
- Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are physically connected, so you can walk between them without needing to exit the buildings.
- Terminal 1A, being separate, requires a short walk across from Terminal 1 if you're transferring flights that involve low-cost carriers.
The airport features five concourses labeled B through G. Concourses B and C cater to Schengen destinations, with Concourse B located in the basement of Concourse C and primarily used for bus boarding. Concourse D is designated for non-Schengen flights and has undergone recent refurbishments. For a smoother transition between international and domestic flights, note that Concourse G, which also handles non-Schengen flights, shares passport control facilities with Concourse D. Moving between these concourses can involve a mix of walking and bus transfers, depending on your gate location.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
The airport has several security checkpoints located throughout the airport terminals. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to allow enough time to pass through security. The main security checkpoint is located in the departure hall of the Main Terminal. Additional security checkpoints can be found in Terminal B, Terminal C, Terminal D, Terminal F, and Terminal G. Passengers should follow the signs and directions to the nearest security checkpoint based on their departure terminal.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
VIE offers Fast Track lanes for passengers who want to expedite their security screening process. Fast Track lanes are available for passengers traveling in Business Class, First Class, or with certain airline memberships. The Fast Track lanes are located at the main security checkpoint in the departure hall of the Main Terminal, as well as in Terminal B and Terminal C. Passengers should check with their airline or travel agent to see if they are eligible for Fast Track access.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at Vienna International Airport is located in the arrival hall of the Main Terminal. Passengers arriving from non-Schengen countries will need to go through passport control before collecting their luggage. Passengers arriving from Schengen countries can proceed directly to baggage claim. There are also passport control checkpoints located in Terminal B and Terminal C for passengers arriving at those terminals. Passengers should follow the signs and directions to the nearest passport control checkpoint based on their arrival terminal.
