Getting Around YKF Airport
The terminal at YKF Airport is compact, making it relatively easy to navigate. It features four gates: one for international arrivals, one for domestic arrivals, and two for domestic departures. Upon entering the terminal, travelers will find clear signage directing them to different areas, including the international/domestic lounge and baggage claim areas.
For those waiting for their flights, the terminal offers a licensed sit-down eating area where you can enjoy a meal, as well as a vending area for quick snacks and drinks. Baggage claim is straightforward, with separate carousels for domestic and international flights to ensure efficient luggage retrieval. Overall, the layout is designed to be intuitive, allowing passengers to move smoothly from check-in to boarding.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
The Region of Waterloo Airport has one security checkpoint located on the main level of the terminal building. The checkpoint is easily accessible for all passengers and is open 24/7. The airport advises passengers to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled departure time to allow for enough time to pass through security.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Unfortunately, the Region of Waterloo Airport does not currently offer any fast track lanes for passengers. However, the airport does offer a pre-screening program called Nexus, which allows for expedited processing at security checkpoints for eligible travelers.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control is located at the main level of the terminal building, adjacent to the security checkpoint. The airport has one immigration control area, which is staffed by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers. All international passengers are required to go through passport and immigration control before exiting the airport.

Baggage Claim Areas
Waterloo Airport has a baggage claim area located in the terminal building. The area is easily accessible and clearly marked with signs. Passengers can collect their checked-in baggage from the designated carousel. The airport staff is available to assist passengers with any baggage-related queries.
