Tips from OTP Frequent Flyers
To help make your experience at Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport as smooth and enjoyable as possible, we’ve gathered the best advice and tips from OTP-based frequent travelers, flight attendants, pilots, and airport staff. Their first-hand insights are sure to provide you with valuable guidance. Here’s what they have to say:
Navigating the Terminals
"When flying through OTP, always check which terminal your flight departs from. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights, while Terminal 2 handles international ones. The signs are clear, but if you're ever unsure, the information desks are very helpful." — Mihai C., Otopeni, Romania, January 2024
"If you have a layover and need to switch terminals, the shuttle service is reliable but can get crowded during peak hours. Plan a little extra time for this transfer." — Ana M., Snagov, Romania, March 2024
Getting To/From the City
"The express Bus 780 is a convenient and affordable way to reach the city center. Just make sure to buy your ticket in advance at the kiosks near the bus stop. It's a smooth ride and saves you the taxi fare." — Vlad P., Buftea, Romania, April 2024
"For a more comfortable ride, I recommend using licensed taxis or ride-sharing services like Uber. They are safe and the pricing is transparent. Always confirm the fare before starting your journey." — Ioana D., Voluntari, Romania, June 2024
Parking
"If you're driving to OTP, the on-site parking is convenient but can be pricey. For longer trips, I suggest the off-airport parking lots. They offer shuttle services to the terminals and are much more economical." — Florin T., Corbeanca, Romania, August 2024
"Don't forget about the cell phone waiting areas if you're picking someone up. It's free for up to an hour and saves you from circling around the airport." — Alina S., Balotești, Romania, October 2024
Inside the Airport

"OTP has a decent selection of shops, but if you're looking for last-minute souvenirs, the Romanian Art & Crafts store is perfect. Their items are unique and capture the essence of the country." — Elena J., Chitila, Romania, May 2024
Avoiding Delays and Stress
"To avoid stress, always check your flight status online or via your airline's app before heading to the airport. OTP can get busy, and knowing your gate and any delays in advance helps manage your time better." — Daniel L., Tunari, Romania, July 2024
"Security lines at OTP are generally efficient, but during peak hours, they can be long. Arrive early and consider using the fast-track service if you're in a hurry." — Gabriela F., Bragadiru, Romania, September 2024

Picking Up and Dropping Off Passengers
At OTP Airport, passengers can be picked up and dropped off at the designated curbside areas outside of each terminal. However, it is important to note that there are strict parking restrictions in place to ensure the safety and efficiency of airport operations. Drivers are not allowed to park or leave their vehicles unattended at the curbside areas, and vehicles left unattended will be towed away.
To avoid curbside parking restrictions, drivers can make use of the cell-phone waiting areas located near each terminal. These areas provide a convenient place for drivers to wait until their passengers have arrived and are ready to be picked up. Drivers can wait in their vehicles free of charge for up to 60 minutes, and can then proceed to the curbside areas to pick up their passengers.
Parking Facilities & Options
If you're flying out of the airport, you'll find a variety of parking options available to suit your needs.
The airport offers several on-site parking lots and garages, located within walking distance of the terminals. There are also designated cell phone waiting areas where you can wait for arriving passengers free of charge.
For those with disabilities, there are ample handicapped parking spaces available in all on-site parking areas.
If you're looking for a more economical parking option, off-airport parking is available nearby. These lots typically offer shuttle service to and from the airport, and can be a great way to save money on parking fees.
