Getting Around RDU Airport
RDU Airport features two separate terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are linked by a shuttle bus service and a moving walkway through covered parking decks. This setup means you'll need to plan a bit if you have to move between these terminals, especially since there's no airside connection. Terminal 1 is smaller, with 9 gates labeled A1 through A9, while Terminal 2 is larger, housing 36 gates across concourses C and D.
Here are some tips for navigating inside the airport:
- Shuttle Bus and Walkway: Use the shuttle bus or the moving walkway if you need to switch terminals. The shuttle service is a convenient option if you're carrying heavy luggage or traveling under time constraints.
- Gate Information: Terminal 1 serves airlines like Southwest and Spirit, and all gates are sequentially numbered from A1 to A9, making it relatively straightforward to find your way. Terminal 2, handling all international flights and larger domestic carriers like American and Delta, is spread out more extensively with gates in concourses C and D. Notably, gates C21, C23, C24, and C25 are designated for international arrivals.
