Getting Around SAT Airport
SAT Airport features two main terminals, A and B, which are designed to facilitate an easy flow of passengers. Terminal A, being the larger of the two, houses 17 gates and services the majority of the airlines, including all international flights. Terminal B, although smaller with ten gates, includes amenities such as a United Club and a USO center. Both terminals are equipped with modern signage and facilities following recent renovations, which help in guiding passengers smoothly to their gates.
When navigating inside SAT Airport, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Check the gate number on your boarding pass against the updated terminal maps located throughout the airport. This will help you head in the right direction without unnecessary delays.
- Terminal A and B are within walking distance of each other, making transfers relatively straightforward if you’re switching airlines or if your entry gate changes.
- Look out for the digital displays and updated signage, especially in Terminal A, which underwent significant renovations including renumbering of gates to enhance passenger navigation.

In Terminal B, there are also two security checkpoints located near Gates 13-18 and Gates 19-24. Fast Track Lanes and Locations
SAT Airport offers a TSA PreCheck program for eligible passengers, which allows them to use the dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes and go through security more quickly. The TSA PreCheck lanes are located at both security checkpoints in Terminal A and Terminal B. In addition, the airport also offers a Clear program, which provides expedited security screening for members at a separate lane. The Clear lane is located at the security checkpoint near Gates 1-7 in Terminal A. Passengers can sign up for these programs online or at the airport.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
The airport has a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility located in Terminal A for international arrivals. Passengers will go through passport and immigration control at this facility before collecting their luggage and exiting the airport. The CBP facility is open daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm. It is recommended that passengers check with their airline for specific instructions and requirements for international travel.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
SAT has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is available for eligible passengers who have completed a background check and are considered low-risk travelers. This program allows passengers to go through security checkpoints without removing shoes, belts, and certain liquids from their carry-on bags. Passengers who do not have TSA Pre Check can still go through the regular TSA checkpoint, which may require additional screening measures.
