Getting Around ILM Airport
ILM Airport features a single terminal with a straightforward layout that simplifies navigation. The terminal houses eight gates, all of which are easily accessible from the main entrance. Since the airport operates with a single terminal, you won't have to transfer between different terminals, making your movement inside the airport more manageable and less time-consuming.
Here are some tips for getting around inside the airport:
- Gate Proximity: All gates are located close to each other, so walking from one gate to another does not require much time. This is particularly beneficial if you're running late or have a tight connection.
- Signage: Keep an eye out for clear signage directing you to various facilities like restrooms, exits, and dining areas. These signs will help you find your way quickly without confusion.
- Assistance Services: If you need additional help getting around, assistance services are available. Don’t hesitate to ask for a wheelchair or guided assistance if you have mobility issues or if it's your first time at the airport.

Security & Screening
In this section, you'll learn about the various security and screening processes at the airport, including the locations of security checkpoints, Fast Track lanes, and passport & immigration control areas. Additionally, we cover TSA and TSA PreCheck services, Global Entry options, and the availability of CLEAR lanes. You'll also find information on how to renew or enroll in TSA PreCheck to expedite your travel experience.
Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
ILM Airport has two security checkpoints located in the main terminal building. One is located at the entrance to Concourse A, and the other is located near the entrance to Concourse B. Both checkpoints are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and their belongings. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for the security screening process.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport offers a Fast Track service for passengers who wish to expedite their way through security. The Fast Track service is available at both security checkpoints and allows passengers to bypass the regular security lines. This service is available for an additional fee and can be purchased online or at the airport. The Fast Track lanes are clearly marked and are located at the entrance to both security checkpoints.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
ILM has a dedicated passport and immigration control area located in the main terminal building. This area is located near the baggage claim area and is staffed by trained immigration officers who are responsible for processing all international arrivals. Passengers are required to present their passports and any necessary travel documents at this checkpoint. Once cleared, passengers can proceed to the baggage claim area to collect their luggage. It is important to note that passengers should allow sufficient time for the immigration process, especially during peak travel periods.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
At Wilmington Airport (ILM), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) operates security checkpoints to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings. These checkpoints are located at the entrance of each terminal and are staffed by trained TSA agents who are responsible for screening all passengers and their carry-on items. Additionally, ILM offers TSA PreCheck, a program that allows eligible passengers to receive expedited screening at security checkpoints. To participate in TSA PreCheck, passengers must apply and be approved by the TSA and pay a fee. Once approved, passengers can use dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes and do not have to remove their shoes, belts, or light jackets, and can keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags.

Global Entry Locations
Global Entry is a program offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. At Wilmington (ILM) Airport (ILM), there are no Global Entry enrollment centers or kiosks. However, there are several enrollment centers located within driving distance of ILM, including in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina. To participate in Global Entry, passengers must apply and be approved by CBP and pay a fee.
