Getting Around GIG Airport
Rio de Janeiro/Galeão International Airport consists of two main passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 primarily serves Azul and Flyways, while Terminal 2 caters to most international airlines, including United and Delta. The two terminals are interconnected by a covered walkway equipped with a travelator, allowing for easy movement between them. Additionally, both terminals feature elevators, escalators, and automatic doors to facilitate accessibility.
Once inside, travelers will find that both terminals offer a range of amenities. Dining and shopping options are available in both terminals, ensuring that passengers can find a meal or pick up last-minute items regardless of where their flight departs. For those needing to relax, the Rio Aeroporto Hotel is located on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1 before Security, and the Aerotel Rio de Janeiro is situated in Terminal 2, after Security.
For travelers needing transportation services, both terminals offer various options. Car rental counters for companies like Avis, Hertz, and Thrifty can be found in both terminals. Additionally, the terminals are well-signposted, making navigation straightforward. Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Rio de Janeiro Airport has security checkpoints located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 has two security checkpoints, one located on the ground floor and the other on the second floor. Terminal 2 has three security checkpoints, one located on the ground floor and two on the second floor. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to allow enough time for security checks.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Fast Track lanes are available for passengers who wish to expedite their security screening process. These lanes are located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the Fast Track lane is located on the second floor, near the security checkpoint. In Terminal 2, the Fast Track lane is located on the second floor, near the entrance to the security checkpoint. Passengers who are eligible for the Fast Track lane include those traveling in business or first class, members of certain airline loyalty programs, and passengers who have purchased a Fast Track pass.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at GIG Airport is located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, passport control is located on the second floor, near the security checkpoint. Immigration control is located on the ground floor, near the baggage claim area. In Terminal 2, passport control is located on the second floor, near the security checkpoint. Immigration control is located on the ground floor, near the baggage claim area. Passengers are advised to have all necessary travel documents ready for inspection by immigration officials.
