Getting Around BRO Airport
The terminal is structured with two main floors to facilitate passenger movement. Upon entering the terminal, all airlines are located on the first floor. After checking your luggage, you will proceed to the second floor where security and all gates are situated. Access to the second floor is available via escalator, stairs, or elevator. It's important to note that only ticketed passengers are allowed on the second floor, where TSA will screen all carry-on bags.
For arriving passengers, follow the signs to the gate exits on the second floor. Ensure you have all your belongings before exiting through the double doors, as re-entry to the gate area requires going back through security. The gate area also includes amenities such as bathrooms, a pet area, and a nursing station for your convenience.
Upon exiting the gate area, you can use the elevator, which opens facing the baggage claim area on the first floor. The baggage carousel, rental car services, and additional bathrooms are conveniently located near the baggage claim. This layout ensures a smooth transition from your flight to ground transportation or onward travel arrangements.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
The Brownsville S-Padre Island Airport has one security checkpoint located on the main level of the terminal building. Passengers are required to go through security screening before entering the boarding area. The security checkpoint is equipped with X-ray machines and metal detectors to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening and other airport procedures.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The Brownsville S-Padre Island Airport does not currently offer fast track lanes for expedited security screening. However, passengers traveling to international destinations from nearby airports may need to go through passport and immigration control at those airports before departing for their final destination.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Brownsville Airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for eligible passengers, which means they can keep on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. Global Entry Locations
BRO Airport does not have a Global Entry Enrollment Center on site, but there are several locations nearby where travelers can apply for Global Entry. The closest enrollment center is located in Harlingen, TX, which is approximately 30 miles from the airport. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. To use Global Entry, passengers must apply and be approved for the program.
CLEAR Lane Locations

Upon arrival at Brownsville S-Padre Island Airport, passengers will find the baggage claim area located near the exit of the terminal. The airport has two baggage carousels, one for domestic flights and one for international flights. Passengers are advised to check the flight information displays to determine which carousel their luggage will be on.
