Getting Around CHS Airport
CHS Airport features a single terminal layout that simplifies navigation for travelers. The terminal has two main concourses: Concourse A and Concourse B. Concourse A is located towards the east end of the terminal and primarily serves Delta Air Lines and Delta Connection. It includes gates A1 through A7, plus an additional gate A2A. Concourse B, positioned towards the west end, houses gates B1 through B10 and is utilized by various other airlines. This concourse also hosts the international arrivals facility.
Both departure and arrival areas are conveniently situated on the same floor, streamlining the flow of passengers. The departure area is at the east end, while the arrival area is at the west end of the terminal. A single, consolidated TSA security checkpoint serves both concourses, making the security process smoother for passengers heading to either concourse. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Charleston Airport has several security checkpoints located throughout the airport. The main security checkpoint is located in the main terminal, near the entrance to Concourse A. There are also additional security checkpoints located at the entrance to Concourse B and near the baggage claim area. Be sure to allow enough time to pass through security, especially during peak travel times.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Charleston Airport offers a TSA PreCheck program, which allows eligible passengers to use a dedicated security lane and avoid some of the usual security procedures. The TSA PreCheck lane is located at the main security checkpoint in the main terminal. In addition, some airlines offer their own fast track lanes for premium passengers or those with certain frequent flyer status levels. Check with your airline to see if you are eligible for a fast track lane.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
CHS Airport has a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility located in the main terminal, near baggage claim. This facility handles all international arrivals and departures, including passport control and customs inspections. Be sure to have all necessary travel documents ready and allow enough time to pass through CBP procedures. Note that some flights may arrive at remote gates, requiring a short shuttle ride to the main terminal for CBP processing.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
The airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for trusted travelers, which means you can keep your shoes, belt, and light jacket on, and your laptop and liquids can stay in your carry-on bag.
