Getting Around ORD Airport
ORD Airport consists of four numbered passenger terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 5. Each terminal serves different airlines and is equipped with various concourses and gates. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are interconnected airside by walkways, making it convenient for passengers to transfer between these terminals without having to exit and re-enter security.
Terminal 1, primarily used by United Airlines and its partners, has two concourses, B and C, with a total of 52 gates. Terminal 2 serves United Express, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue, featuring 41 gates across concourses E and F. Terminal 3, used by American Airlines and several international carriers, includes 80 gates spread over concourses G, H, K, and L. Terminal 5, which handles Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and most international flights, has 35 gates on concourse M and houses the airport's U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities.
Passengers needing to transfer between Terminal 5 and Terminals 1, 2, or 3 can do so via a landside shuttle bus or the Airport Transit System, which requires rescreening at security. Additionally, an airside shuttle bus operates between Terminal 5 and Terminals 1 and 3 every 15 minutes from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm, providing a convenient option for passengers to transfer without exiting the secure area.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Chicago O'Hare Airport has security checkpoints located in each of its four terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 5. The exact locations of the checkpoints vary depending on the terminal, but they are all clearly marked and easy to find. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time to go through security.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Chicago O'Hare Airport offers a TSA PreCheck program that allows eligible passengers to use dedicated fast track lanes at security checkpoints. The TSA PreCheck lanes are available at all four terminals and are marked with signs. In addition, some airlines offer their own fast track lanes for premium passengers, such as first class or business class travelers. These lanes are typically located near the regular security checkpoints.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at Chicago O'Hare Airport is located in Terminal 5. All international arrivals must go through passport control before collecting their baggage and proceeding to customs. The airport has recently introduced automated passport control kiosks to speed up the process for eligible passengers. These kiosks are located in the passport control area and are easy to use. Passengers should allow extra time for passport and immigration control, especially during peak travel periods.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Chicago O'Hare Airport has several TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints located throughout the airport. These checkpoints are designed to help expedite the security screening process for eligible passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows pre-approved travelers to receive expedited screening benefits, such as keeping on shoes, belts, and light jackets, as well as leaving laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. It is important to note that not all passengers are eligible for TSA Pre Check and must go through the regular TSA screening process.

Global Entry Locations
Chicago O'Hare Airport is one of the many airports in the United States that offers Global Entry enrollment centers. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. This program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and citizens of certain other countries. The Global Entry enrollment center at Chicago O'Hare Airport is located in Terminal 5, near the Duty-Free Shop. It is recommended to make an appointment before arriving at the enrollment center to ensure availability.

Chicago O'Hare Airport is a hub for domestic and international flights, and it offers a wide variety of food and shopping options for travelers. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a sit-down meal, you'll find plenty of options in the airport's four terminals.

Terminal 1 is home to the United Club Lounge, located near gate B6. This lounge offers comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and beverages, and free Wi-Fi.
