Getting Around CHC Airport
CHC Airport features a single terminal that serves both domestic and international flights, making it easy for passengers to navigate. The terminal is organized into distinct zones: a regional wing for turboprop flights, a central area for mainline domestic services, and an international wing. Upon entering the terminal, travelers will find a combined check-in area with 58 counters and numerous self-service kiosks, streamlining the check-in process.
On the ground floor, passengers can access a common baggage claim hall, ensuring a straightforward experience when retrieving luggage. For those looking to shop or grab a bite to eat, the first floor offers a large retail area with various food and retail outlets, as well as comfortable waiting areas. The terminal also boasts a state-of-the-art baggage handling system, enhancing the efficiency of luggage processing.
When it comes to boarding, the airport has 37 gates in total. The regional wing, located in the south-west, includes gates 3–14 for Air New Zealand Link turboprop flights. The central zone, which handles mainline Air New Zealand and Jetstar domestic services, features gates 15–22a, most of which are equipped with jetbridges. The international wing, situated in the north-east, comprises gates 23–35, with most gates also featuring jetbridges. Shared swing gates (21/24 and 22/25) can be used for either domestic or international flights, depending on demand, adding flexibility to the airport's operations.

Christchurch International Airport has two baggage claim areas, one for the domestic area and the other for the international terminal. The baggage claim areas are located on the ground floor of the terminal buildings. Passengers are advised to check the flight information display screens to find out which baggage carousel their luggage will be on. Baggage carts are available for use in the baggage claim areas.
