Getting Around PIA Airport
The terminal is designed to provide a seamless experience for travelers. The main concourse of the 125,000 sq. ft. facility houses essential services like ticket counters, baggage claim, and rental car desks all on one floor, making navigation straightforward. The passenger area features 14 gates, ensuring efficient boarding and deplaning processes. This layout minimizes the need for extensive walking or navigating multiple floors, which is particularly convenient for those with mobility concerns or tight connections.
For those waiting for their flights, the terminal offers a comfortable environment with individual seating and free WiFi throughout the passenger area. This allows travelers to relax or stay productive while waiting. Additionally, there are various dining and shopping options available, so you can grab a bite to eat or pick up any last-minute items you might need for your trip.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
PIA Airport has one security checkpoint located on the main level of the terminal building. The checkpoint is easily accessible and clearly marked with signs throughout the airport. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport does not currently offer fast track lanes for expedited security screening. However, TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers, which allows them to go through a dedicated security lane and keep their shoes, belts, and jackets on, as well as leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. TSA PreCheck is available at the main security checkpoint at PIA.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
PIA does not have international flights, so there are no passport or immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers traveling to international destinations will go through passport and immigration control at their final destination.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Peoria General Downing Airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows eligible passengers to go through a faster screening process. To be eligible, passengers must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident, have a Known Traveler Number, and pass a background check. Passengers with TSA Pre Check can leave on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags.

Global Entry Locations
Peoria Airport does not have a Global Entry Enrollment Center. However, nearby airports such as Chicago O'Hare International Airport and St. Louis Lambert International Airport have Global Entry Enrollment Centers. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. To enroll in Global Entry, travelers must complete an online application, pay a fee, and attend an in-person interview at an enrollment center.

Baggage Claim Areas
The airport has two baggage claim areas located on the lower level of the terminal building. Baggage from all arriving flights is delivered to these areas. Passengers are advised to check the flight information display screens to confirm the baggage claim area for their flight. The airport staff is available to assist passengers with any baggage-related queries.
