Getting Around JFK Airport
JFK Airport features five active terminals, numbered 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8, arranged in a U-shaped pattern around a central area. Each terminal operates independently, primarily managed by airlines or consortiums of airlines. To navigate between terminals, passengers can utilize the AirTrain JFK, a free service that runs 24/7, connecting all terminals and other key locations within the airport. Signage throughout the terminals is designed to provide clear direction, aiding in smooth navigation.

For inter-terminal transfers, passengers may need to exit security and re-clear it at the new terminal. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Kennedy Airport has security checkpoints located in each terminal. Passengers are required to go through security before entering their departure gate. The locations of the security checkpoints vary depending on the terminal. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for the security process.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Fast Track lanes are available for eligible passengers at NY Kennedy Airport. These lanes allow passengers to bypass the regular security lines and move through security more quickly. Fast Track lanes are located in each terminal, but the exact locations may vary. Eligible passengers include those with TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or other trusted traveler programs. Some airlines also offer Fast Track access to their premium passengers.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at JFK is located in each terminal. Passengers arriving from international destinations will need to go through passport control before exiting the airport. The exact location of passport control may vary depending on the terminal. It is important for passengers to have all necessary travel documents ready and available for inspection by immigration officials. Global Entry members can use the automated kiosks to expedite the passport control process.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
New York Kennedy Airport (JFK) has multiple TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints located throughout the airport. These checkpoints are designed to help expedite the security screening process for travelers. TSA Pre Check allows eligible travelers to enjoy a faster, more efficient screening experience by keeping on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and leaving laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. To use TSA Pre Check, travelers must apply and be approved for the program. The TSA Pre Checkpoints at JFK are located in Terminals 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8.

Global Entry Locations
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. New York JFK Airport (JFK) has multiple Global Entry locations throughout the airport, making it easy for travelers to take advantage of this program. Global Entry kiosks are located in Terminals 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8. To use Global Entry, travelers must apply and be approved for the program.

Baggage claim areas at JFK airport are located in each terminal. Passengers can find their designated baggage claim area on the monitors located throughout the terminal. Once passengers arrive at their designated baggage claim area, they can wait for their luggage to arrive on the baggage carousel. If passengers have any issues with their luggage, they can contact the baggage claim office located nearby.
