Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
McClellan-Palomar Airport has one security checkpoint located on the main terminal level. Passengers are required to go through security screening before entering the boarding area. The airport recommends arriving at least 90 minutes prior to your flight departure time to allow enough time for check-in and security screening.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
City NameCarlsbad Airport does not currently offer fast track lanes for expedited security screening. However, TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers to receive expedited screening at security checkpoints. Passengers who are enrolled in TSA PreCheck can use the designated lanes and do not need to remove their shoes, belts, or light jackets, and can keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
CRQ Airport does not have international flights, therefore, there are no passport and immigration control locations at the airport. All flights departing from and arriving at the airport are domestic flights within the United States. However, passengers are still required to present a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, at the security checkpoint and during boarding.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
The airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints available for passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for eligible passengers, who can keep on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. To use TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved for the program, and provide their Known Traveler Number (KTN) when booking their flights. Passengers without TSA Pre Check can still go through the regular TSA checkpoint.

To apply for Global Entry, travelers must complete an online application, schedule an interview at an enrollment center, and pay a non-refundable fee. Once approved, Global Entry members can use automated kiosks at select airports to bypass the regular customs and immigration lines.
