Getting Around OAK Airport
OAK Airport features two main terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are interconnected via post-security areas. This setup allows you to move between terminals without needing to go through security checks again, making transfers between flights seamless and time-efficient. Terminal 1 is equipped with 16 gates and serves a variety of airlines including Alaska, Delta, and Southwest among others. Terminal 2, slightly smaller, has 13 gates and is exclusively used by Southwest Airlines.
For those flying with JSX, be aware that it operates from a separate facility outside the main passenger terminals. When planning your airport navigation, consider this if your itinerary includes JSX. Inside the terminals, signage is clear, helping you find your way to gates, restrooms, and dining areas easily. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
OAK Airport has security checkpoints located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the security checkpoint is located near the entrance of the terminal, after the ticketing counters and before the food court. In Terminal 2, the security checkpoint is located near the entrance of the terminal, after the ticketing counters and before the baggage claim area. Both checkpoints are easily accessible and well-marked, with plenty of signage to guide passengers.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Fast Track lanes are available at the airport for passengers who want to expedite the security screening process. These lanes are located at both security checkpoints in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. To access the Fast Track lane, passengers must have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR membership. These programs allow passengers to go through security without removing their shoes, belts, or light jackets, and without taking their laptops and liquids out of their bags. The Fast Track lanes at OAK are a great option for frequent travelers who want to save time and hassle at the airport.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at Metropolitan Oakland Airport is located in Terminal 1, near the baggage claim area.
