Getting Around DCA Airport

At DCA, navigating through the terminals can be straightforward if you're familiar with its layout. The airport consists of two main terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is smaller, with gates numbered A1 to A9. It mainly serves Air Canada Express, Frontier, and Southwest, with Southwest being the predominant airline. Terminal 2, on the other hand, is significantly larger and houses four concourses: B, C, D, and E. Gates in these concourses are numbered from B10 to E59. It's important to note that the two terminals are not connected post-security, so make sure to arrive at the correct terminal for your flight to avoid unnecessary travel between them.

Getting around inside Terminal 2 might require a bit more walking due to its size and the number of concourses. Each concourse serves specific airlines, which can help you navigate more efficiently. For instance, Concourse B serves Alaska Airlines, Delta, and United; Concourse C is for American and JetBlue; and Concourses D and E cater exclusively to American. If you're looking to relax or catch up on work, Terminal 2 offers airline lounges such as the Delta Sky Club and United Club in Concourse B, and three American Admirals Clubs spread across the concourses. Remember, all gates now have a letter prefix (A through E), reflecting their specific concourse, which aids in better orientation and movement within the terminal.
