Getting Around GRU Airport
The airport comprises three passenger terminals: 1, 2, and 3. Terminal 1 is the smallest, serving only domestic flights operated by Azul. This terminal lacks jet bridges and is not directly connected to the other terminals. To move between terminals, passengers can use the free shuttle bus service.
Terminal 2, the oldest and largest, handles a mix of domestic flights, flights to Latin American destinations, and some intercontinental flights. It features a spacious check-in area and various amenities for travelers. Terminal 3, the newest and most modern, is dedicated to international flights, including long-haul intercontinental routes and LATAM Group's Latin American flights. A walkway directly connects Terminals 2 and 3, making it easy for passengers to transfer between these two terminals without needing to exit the secure area.
For efficient navigation within the airport, consider the following tips:
- Use the free shuttle bus to travel between Terminal 1 and the other terminals.
- Take advantage of the walkway between Terminals 2 and 3 for quick transfers.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport has security checkpoints located in each of its three terminals. Passengers are required to pass through security before entering the boarding area. The security checkpoints are equipped with X-ray machines and metal detectors to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight to allow enough time for security procedures.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Fast Track lanes are available for passengers who wish to expedite the security screening process. These lanes are located in each terminal and are accessible to passengers who have purchased a Fast Track pass or are members of a frequent flyer program. Fast Track passes can be purchased online or at the airport. The Fast Track lanes are designed to reduce wait times and provide a more efficient screening process for passengers.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control is located in Terminal 3 of Sao Paulo Airport. Passengers arriving from international destinations are required to pass through immigration control before exiting the airport. Passengers are required to present their passport and any necessary travel documents to the immigration officer. It is recommended that passengers have all necessary documents readily available to expedite the process. After passing through immigration control, passengers can collect their luggage and proceed to the customs area.

Food, Shops & Services
GRU, also known as GRU, is the largest airport in Brazil and serves as a hub for many airlines. With three terminals, there are plenty of options for food and shopping. Terminal 1 is the smallest terminal but still offers a variety of options for travelers. You can find fast food options like McDonald's and Subway, as well as local Brazilian cuisine at Casa do Pão de Queijo. Terminal 2 is the largest terminal and has the most options for food and shopping. There are several restaurants including Outback Steakhouse and TGI Friday's, as well as coffee shops and snack bars. For shopping, there are several duty-free shops, as well as stores selling clothing, electronics, and souvenirs.
Terminal 3 is the newest terminal and is primarily used for international flights. There are several dining options including Starbucks, Burger King, and a food court with various options. For shopping, there are duty-free shops, as well as stores selling luxury brands like Michael Kors and Montblanc.
In addition to food and shopping, GRU offers several amenities for travelers. There are currency exchange services, ATMs, and several lounges for those with access. For those traveling with children, there are play areas in each terminal. GRU also offers free Wi-Fi throughout the airport, making it easy to stay connected while waiting for your flight.

Baggage Claim Areas
Upon arrival at the airport, passengers can easily locate the baggage claim areas in each terminal. Terminal 1 has two baggage claim areas located on the ground floor, while Terminal 2 has three baggage claim areas on the ground floor. Terminal 3 has four baggage claim areas located on the first floor. Each baggage claim area is clearly marked with signs and monitors displaying flight information and carousel numbers. Baggage carts are available for use in the baggage claim areas, and luggage storage options are also available for those who need to store their bags temporarily.
