Terminal F Info & Layout
Terminal F at Sheremetyevo International Airport, previously known as Sheremetyevo-2, plays a crucial role in handling international flights. Opened on May 6, 1980, in time for the Moscow Summer Olympics, this terminal has historically been a hub for international travelers. It features 15 jetways and 21 remote aircraft stands, designed to accommodate up to 6 million passengers annually.
Major airlines operating from Terminal F include Aeroflot and its SkyTeam partners, which utilize the terminal for a variety of international routes. The terminal underwent significant modernization in late 2009, enhancing passenger convenience with an updated departures lounge and duty-free zone. These improvements included the removal of partition walls to expand retail and lounge areas, offering a more spacious and comfortable environment for travelers.
Passengers can access Terminal F via pedestrian walkways that connect it to Terminal E and the rest of the southern terminal complex. These walkways are equipped with travelators, facilitating easy movement between terminals. While Terminal F is currently closed for reconstruction as of December 30, 2021, it remains an integral part of the airport's infrastructure, with plans for further development following the completion of Terminal C's construction.
Unique features of Terminal F include its architectural design, which is a larger version of the Hannover–Langenhagen Airport design, constructed with materials transported from Germany. This terminal has been a significant part of Sheremetyevo's history, serving as a primary international gateway for decades.
