Getting Around AVP Airport
The airport has a single passenger terminal with two levels. The lower level houses Gates 1 and 2, while the second floor accommodates Gates 3 through 8. Navigating between these levels is straightforward, thanks to escalators and elevators strategically placed throughout the terminal.
For those flying with American Eagle, you will typically find your flights at Gates 2, 3, and 5. United Express passengers will usually depart from Gates 1, 7, and 8. Breeze Airways operates out of Gate 4. It’s worth noting that Gates 1 and 2 are not in regular use and are primarily reserved for overflow and diversions.

Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
AVP Airport has two security checkpoints located on the first floor of the terminal building. The main checkpoint is located near the entrance of the terminal and the other one is located near the baggage claim area. Both checkpoints are equipped with advanced technology to ensure the safety and security of passengers and their belongings.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport offers a Fast Track program for passengers who want to expedite their security screening process. The Fast Track lanes are located at the main security checkpoint and are available for passengers who have purchased the program or are eligible for TSA PreCheck. The program allows passengers to skip the regular security line and go through a dedicated lane, which usually results in a shorter wait time.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
AVP does not have any international flights, therefore, there are no passport and immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers traveling to international destinations from other airports should ensure they have all necessary travel documents and visas before their trip.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport has both TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints available for passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for low-risk travelers, meaning they can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and their laptops and liquids in their bags. To qualify for TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved through the TSA's website or at an enrollment center. At AVP, the TSA Pre Checkpoint is located at the main security checkpoint.

Global Entry Locations
Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers entering the United States. At Wilkes-Barre Airport, Global Entry is available for passengers arriving on international flights. The Global Entry Enrollment Center is located at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office in Philadelphia, approximately two hours from AVP. Passengers can schedule an appointment online through the Global Entry website.
CLEAR Lane Locations
This airport does not currently have CLEAR Lanes. However, you still might be able to use CLEAR if you are traveling to or from another airport that does. You can easily check CLEAR airport locations and learn more about how to save a ton of time on your next trip!

Wilkes-Barre Airport (AVP) offers a variety of food and shopping options for travelers. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a last-minute souvenir, this airport has got you covered.

Baggage Claim Areas
The airport has two baggage claim areas located on the lower level of the terminal. Baggage from all arriving flights is delivered to these areas, and passengers can easily locate their luggage by checking the monitors for their flight number and carousel assignment. The airport staff is always available to assist passengers with any questions or concerns regarding their baggage.
