Concourse A Info & Layout
Concourse A at Frankfurt Airport is an integral part of Terminal 1, which is the larger and older of the two main passenger terminals at the airport. This concourse primarily handles Schengen flights and is a hub for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners, including major airlines such as Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, and United Airlines, among others.
Concourse A features 25 gates equipped with jetways, ensuring efficient boarding and deboarding processes for travelers. The concourse is well-equipped with a variety of amenities, including dining options, retail stores, lounges, and passenger services, enhancing the travel experience.
Passengers can access Concourse A through multiple levels of Terminal 1. The departures level, located on the upper floor, hosts check-in counters, while the arrivals level on the ground floor provides baggage claim areas. For easy movement within the airport, the SkyLine people mover system connects Concourse A to other parts of Terminal 1 and to Terminal 2. The SkyLine offers a quick 2-minute ride with stops at gates A/Z, B, and C in Terminal 1, as well as a stop in Terminal 2. Additionally, there is a regular bus service available for inter-terminal transfers.
A unique feature of Concourse A is its integration with Concourse Z, which is situated directly above it. This allows for shared jet bridges between the two concourses, facilitating seamless transitions for flights to non-Schengen destinations from the Z gates. This architectural design not only maximizes space but also enhances operational efficiency, making Concourse A a noteworthy component of Frankfurt Airport's infrastructure.
