Getting Around PIA Airport
The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (PIA) is structured for ease of navigation, featuring a single-terminal layout. This terminal, known as the IA Terminal, spans 125,000 square feet and is designed to facilitate a smooth flow for travelers. All key facilities such as ticket counters, baggage claim, and rental car desks are conveniently located on the ground floor. This setup helps you move quickly from check-in to gate without the need for extensive walking or confusing transfers.
Inside the terminal, you'll find 14 gates through which services operate. The passenger areas are equipped with comfortable seating and free WiFi, aimed at providing a relaxed waiting experience. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
PIA Airport has one security checkpoint located on the main level of the terminal building. The checkpoint is easily accessible and clearly marked with signs throughout the airport. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport does not currently offer fast track lanes for expedited security screening. However, TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers, which allows them to go through a dedicated security lane and keep their shoes, belts, and jackets on, as well as leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. TSA PreCheck is available at the main security checkpoint at PIA.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
PIA does not have international flights, so there are no passport or immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers traveling to international destinations will go through passport and immigration control at their final destination.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Peoria General Downing Airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows eligible passengers to go through a faster screening process. To be eligible, passengers must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident, have a Known Traveler Number, and pass a background check. Passengers with TSA Pre Check can leave on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and keep their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags.

Global Entry Locations
Peoria Airport does not have a Global Entry Enrollment Center. However, nearby airports such as Chicago O'Hare International Airport and St. Louis Lambert International Airport have Global Entry Enrollment Centers. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. To enroll in Global Entry, travelers must complete an online application, pay a fee, and attend an in-person interview at an enrollment center.

The airport has two baggage claim areas located on the lower level of the terminal building. Baggage from all arriving flights is delivered to these areas.
