North Terminal Info & Layout
The North Terminal at London Gatwick Airport plays a crucial role in handling both domestic and international flights. It is home to major airlines and features 31 gates with jetbridges, including three gates specifically designed to accommodate the Airbus A380, one of the largest passenger aircraft in the world. This terminal is known for its state-of-the-art facilities and efficient layout, making it a preferred choice for many travelers.
Travelers at the North Terminal can enjoy a wide range of amenities, including numerous shops and restaurants available both landside and airside. The terminal also provides essential services such as baby changing and feeding facilities, as well as specialized lounges for business travelers. Accessibility is a priority, with all areas designed to accommodate disabled passengers.
Access to the North Terminal is streamlined through a 0.75-mile (1.21 km) elevated, two-way automated people mover that connects it to the South Terminal. While the terminals are linked landside, they are not connected once past security, ensuring a smooth flow of passengers and operations.
A unique feature of the North Terminal is the impressive Pier 6, which opened in 2005 at a cost of £110 million. This pier added 11 pier-served aircraft stands and is connected to the main terminal building by the second-largest air passenger bridge in the world. This bridge spans a taxiway and offers passengers stunning views of the airport and taxiing aircraft, enhancing the travel experience at Gatwick Airport.
