Frequent Flier Terminal Tips
To help you navigate the airport terminals with ease, we’ve gathered the best advice and tips from TUS-based frequent travelers, flight attendants, pilots, and airport staff. Their first-hand insights will guide you through the terminals for a smoother journey. Here’s what they have to say:
Navigating the Airport
"If you're in a rush, use the upper level for quick access to ticketing and gates. The layout is straightforward, but signs can be missed if you're not paying attention. Make sure to follow the signs closely to avoid unnecessary detours." — Maria G., Vail, AZ, December 2023
"Concourse C is a bit isolated, so if you're heading there, allocate extra time. It's a short walk but can be confusing if you're unfamiliar with the airport. Just keep an eye out for the signs directing you west of the main terminal." — John R., Oro Valley, AZ, January 2024
Amenities & Services
"The free Wi-Fi is a lifesaver, especially if you have a long layover. There are plenty of charging stations, so you don't have to worry about your devices running out of juice." — David P., Marana, AZ, February 2024
"For a quick bite, head to Beyond Bread in Concourse A. Their sandwiches are fantastic and it's a local favorite. You'll find it much better than the typical fast food options." — Lisa T., Sahuarita, AZ, March 2024
Security
"TSA PreCheck is available and definitely worth it if you're a frequent traveler. The lines are usually shorter, and you can keep your shoes and belt on, which speeds things up significantly." — Ahmed K., Green Valley, AZ, April 2024
"Arrive at least two hours early. Security lines can get long, especially during peak travel times. If you have CLEAR, use it; it can save you a lot of time." — Emily S., Catalina Foothills, AZ, May 2024
Baggage
"Baggage claim is straightforward but can get crowded. If you have a lot of luggage, grab a cart early—they can run out during busy times." — Robert L., South Tucson, AZ, June 2024
"Check the flight information display screens as soon as you land to know which baggage carousel to head to. This will save you from wandering around looking for your luggage." — Ana M., Oro Valley, AZ, July 2024

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
TUS has security checkpoints located in Concourse A, Concourse B, and the Main Terminal. Passengers are required to go through security before entering the gate area. The airport recommends arriving at least two hours before your flight to allow enough time for security screening.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Tucson Airport offers TSA PreCheck, which allows eligible passengers to use dedicated screening lanes and avoid removing shoes, belts, and light jackets. The TSA PreCheck lane is located in the Main Terminal. Additionally, the airport offers a CLEAR program, which uses biometric technology to expedite the security screening process. CLEAR lanes are also located in the Main Terminal.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Tucson Airport has a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility located in the Main Terminal for international arrivals. Passengers will go through passport and immigration control before collecting their baggage. The CBP facility is open daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm. It is recommended that passengers arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled international departure to allow enough time for passport and immigration control.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
At TUS Airport, TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints are available to help expedite the security screening process for travelers. TSA Pre Check allows eligible passengers to go through a separate, faster security lane where they do not have to remove shoes, belts, or light jackets, and can keep electronics and liquids in their carry-on bags. To be eligible for TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved through the TSA Pre Check program.
For those who do not have TSA Pre Check, standard TSA checkpoints are also available at the airport. These checkpoints require passengers to remove shoes, belts, and light jackets, and place electronics and liquids in separate bins for screening.

The closest enrollment center to Tucson Airport is located in Phoenix, Arizona, approximately two hours away by car. Other enrollment centers are located in Nogales, Arizona and El Paso, Texas, both of which are approximately three hours away by car.
