Getting Around LGA Airport
LaGuardia Airport consists of three active terminals: Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal C, collectively offering 72 gates. Terminal A, also known as the Marine Air Terminal, is the smallest and primarily serves Spirit Airlines. Terminal B is the largest and serves multiple airlines, including American Airlines, JetBlue, and United Airlines. Terminal C is predominantly used by Delta Air Lines and Delta Connection flights. The terminals are connected by a network of buses and walkways, making it relatively easy to navigate between them.
Each terminal has its own layout and amenities. Terminal B, for instance, is divided into two main concourses: the Western Concourse (Gates 11–31) and the Eastern Concourse (Gates 40–59). Terminal C features four concourses (numbered 61–69, 71–79, 82–89, and 92–98). Signage throughout the airport is clear and consistent, designed to guide passengers efficiently to their gates, baggage claim areas, and other facilities.
When moving between terminals, consider using the airport's shuttle bus service for the quickest transfer. For those who prefer walking, clearly marked walkways are available. Inside each terminal, digital information boards provide real-time updates on flight statuses, gate changes, and other essential information. Additionally, airport staff are available throughout the terminals to assist with directions and inquiries.

Frequent Flier Terminal Tips
To help you navigate the airport terminals with ease, we’ve gathered the best advice and tips from LGA-based frequent travelers, flight attendants, pilots, and airport staff. Their first-hand insights will guide you through the terminals for a smoother journey. Here’s what they have to say:
Navigating the Airport
"If you’re flying Delta, Terminal C is your go-to. The signage is clear, but if you’re in a rush, the shuttle service between terminals is a lifesaver. Also, remember that Terminal B is the largest, so give yourself extra time to navigate through it." — John D., Queens, NY, December 2023
"Terminal A, known as the Marine Air Terminal, is less crowded and perfect for a quick in-and-out if you're flying Spirit. It’s a bit detached from the other terminals, so plan accordingly if you need to transfer." — Maria S., Astoria, NY, January 2024
Amenities & Services
"Terminal B has some of the best dining options. I recommend grabbing a meal at Bowery Bay Tavern if you have time. For a quick bite, Fresh & Co. offers healthy options that won’t slow you down." — Emily R., Jackson Heights, NY, February 2024
"For those long layovers, the Delta Sky Club in Terminal C is a haven. It has everything you need to relax, including shower facilities and a full-service bar." — Michael K., Flushing, NY, March 2024
Security
"TSA PreCheck is a must if you want to breeze through security, especially during peak hours. The PreCheck lines in Terminal B are usually the shortest." — Alex T., Forest Hills, NY, April 2024
"If you’re traveling internationally, be prepared for longer wait times at passport control in Terminal B. Arriving early can save you a lot of stress." — Lisa H., Long Island City, NY, May 2024
Baggage
"Baggage claim in Terminal B is well-organized, but it can get crowded. Use the baggage carts available near the claim areas to make your exit smoother, especially if you have multiple bags." — David P., Elmhurst, NY, June 2024
"If you’re transferring between terminals with checked bags, the shuttle service is your best friend. It’s efficient and saves you from lugging your bags across the airport." — Sophia L., Woodside, NY, July 2024

Security & Screening
In this section, you will learn about the locations of security checkpoints, Fast Track lanes, and passport and immigration control. Additionally, it covers TSA and TSA PreCheck checkpoints, Global Entry locations, and CLEAR Lane services. The section also provides information on how to renew or enroll in TSA PreCheck and take advantage of limited-time offers for expedited security programs.
Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
New York LGA Airport has security checkpoints located in each of its four terminals: Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C, and Terminal D. Passengers are required to go through security screening before boarding their flights. The security checkpoints are equipped with X-ray machines and metal detectors to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening and other necessary procedures.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
LGA Airport offers a Fast Track program for passengers who want to expedite their security screening process. Fast Track lanes are available at each of the four terminals and are designated for passengers who have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR membership. These lanes allow eligible passengers to bypass the regular security lines and go through a faster screening process. The Fast Track program is designed to save time and reduce stress for passengers who are in a hurry or want to avoid long lines. Passengers who are interested in joining the TSA PreCheck or CLEAR program can visit their respective websites for more information.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at the airport is located in Terminal B. All international arrivals must go through passport and immigration control before exiting the airport. The process involves presenting a valid passport and any necessary visas or travel documents to the immigration officer, who will verify the information and stamp the passport. Passengers may also be asked to answer a few questions about their trip and provide additional information if necessary. After completing passport and immigration control, passengers can collect their luggage and proceed to the customs area for inspection. It is recommended that passengers allow enough time for passport and immigration control, as wait times can vary depending on the number of arrivals and the time of day.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
LaGuardia has multiple TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints located throughout its terminals. These checkpoints are designed to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and their belongings. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows eligible passengers to experience expedited security screening, which means they can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. To participate in TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved for the program.

Once approved, they can use automated kiosks to complete their customs declaration and biometric verification upon arrival in the U.S. Global Entry is a great option for frequent international travelers looking to save time and hassle at the airport.
