Terminal 4 at London Heathrow Airport is strategically located to the south of the southern runway, adjacent to the cargo terminal. Opened in 1986, this terminal is primarily dedicated to handling international flights, especially those arriving from or departing to Eastern Europe, Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East, along with select European destinations.
Terminal 4 is a hub for the SkyTeam alliance, hosting airlines such as China Southern Airlines, El Al, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, and Vietnam Airlines, which operate regular flights using advanced aircraft like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. It also accommodates Oneworld carriers like Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Royal Air Maroc, as well as several unaffiliated airlines.
The terminal features 22 gates and has undergone significant upgrades, including a £200 million renovation to enhance its capacity and passenger experience. This includes an extended check-in area, renovated piers, departure lounges, and a new baggage system. Four new stands have been constructed to accommodate the Airbus A380, with Qatar Airways operating regular A380 flights from this terminal.
