MUC Terminal 1 Map & Guide

This page is dedicated to providing insights into Terminal 1 at Munich International Airport. It covers essential details about the terminal's layout and facilities, as well as access to interactive terminal maps.

Terminal 1 Info & Layout

Terminal 1 at Munich International Airport is the older of the two terminals, having commenced operations on May 17, 1992. It primarily handles non-Star Alliance airlines, with some exceptions like Turkish Airlines due to capacity constraints at Terminal 2. Major airlines operating from Terminal 1 include American Airlines, Condor, Delta Air Lines, easyJet, Eurowings, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, and TUI fly Deutschland.

This terminal is subdivided into five modules: A, B, C, D, and E, with modules A and D focused on Schengen-area flights, and modules B and C handling non-Schengen destinations. Module E is dedicated to arrivals only. Additionally, Hall F, located near Terminal 2, is used for flights with increased security requirements, such as those to Israel. The terminal has a total of 21 jet bridges and 60 additional aircraft stands on the apron, some of which feature apron jet bridges for weather-protected boarding.

Terminal 1 is accessible via pedestrian walkways and is connected to the central area Z, which houses check-in counters for some flights, along with shopping and dining facilities. The airport's suburban railway station is also located in this central area, providing convenient access for travelers.

One unique feature of Terminal 1 is its modular design, which allows each module to function as a self-contained sub-terminal, complete with individual landside driveways and parking. The terminal is currently undergoing a major extension and refurbishment, including a new 320-meter-long pier expected to increase capacity by 6 million passengers and accommodate larger aircraft like the Airbus A380. The completion of this extension is anticipated by 2025.
