Terminal 2 Info & Layout
Terminal 2 at Munich International Airport is a modern hub designed to handle international flights, primarily serving Lufthansa and other Star Alliance members, with the exception of Turkish Airlines. It has a capacity of 25 million passengers per year and accommodates Luxair as well. This terminal commenced operations on June 29, 2003, and is notable for its centralized layout, with all facilities arranged around a central Plaza, rather than being divided into modules like Terminal 1.
Terminal 2 features a 980-meter (3,220-foot) pier equipped with 24 jet bridges and a total of 75 aircraft stands on the east apron. It is capable of handling large aircraft such as the Airbus A380, with Lufthansa operating the A380 from the terminal's satellite building. The terminal offers two main departure levels, 04 and 05, with level 05 designated for non-Schengen flights and level 04 for Schengen flights. Additional bus gates on level 03 are also used for Schengen flights.
Travelers can access Terminal 2 via pedestrian walkways from the Munich Airport Center (MAC) or through the airport's efficient automated transport systems. The terminal is connected to the Terminal 2 satellite building, which is reached by an underground people mover, enhancing passenger flow and connectivity within the airport.
Terminal 2 is equipped with modern amenities and services to ensure a comfortable travel experience, including various dining options, shopping outlets, and lounges. Unique to this terminal is its operation by Terminal-2-Betriebsgesellschaft, a joint venture between Flughafen München GmbH and Lufthansa, making it the first terminal in Germany to be co-operated by an airline. This collaboration ensures a seamless experience for passengers traveling with Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners.
