Getting Around EWR Airport
Getting around EWR can be straightforward if you're familiar with its layout and facilities. The airport consists of three main terminals: A, B, and C. Terminal A, recently reconstructed, has 33 gates, while Terminal B has 24, and Terminal C, the largest, has 68 gates. Gate numbering is simple to follow; it starts at A1 in Terminal A and ends at C138 in Terminal C. Each terminal is equipped with clear wayfinding signage designed by Paul Mijksenaar, helping you navigate through the areas efficiently.
Here are some tips to help you move between terminals smoothly:
- Inter-Terminal Transport: Moving between terminals is facilitated by the AirTrain, which connects all three terminals. This service is free and operates frequently, making it easy to transfer from one terminal to another without stepping outside.
- Walking Paths: If you prefer walking, there are marked pathways and additional signage to guide you. Terminal A and C are particularly straightforward to navigate due to their linear layouts and centralized security checkpoints.
- Services and Amenities: Each terminal offers a range of services and amenities. Terminal C, largely used by United Airlines, features extensive dining and shopping options. Terminal A, although smaller, provides essential services and quick access to rental cars and parking facilities via a connected walkway.
Remember, while Terminal A is new and boasts modern facilities, Terminals B and C are older but have undergone renovations to improve passenger experience. Terminal B is the primary terminal for international flights not handled by United. If you're catching an international flight from another airline, this is where you'll likely depart. Terminal C, besides its domestic operations, also handles some of United's international flights.
