Getting Around SMF Airport

The airport features two main terminals, Terminal A and Terminal B, which together house a total of 32 gates. Terminal A, which opened in 1998, has 13 gates and serves airlines such as Air Canada, American, Delta, and United. Terminal B, which was rebuilt and opened in 2011, has 19 gates and serves airlines including Aeromexico, Alaska, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, and Volaris. Both terminals offer modern amenities and free Wi-Fi throughout public areas.

For easy navigation between the terminals, travelers can make use of the automated people mover system that connects the airside and landside sections of Terminal B. To move within each terminal, clear signage and information desks are available to assist with directions. Additionally, the terminals are equipped with a variety of dining and shopping options, including unique-to-Sacramento restaurants in Terminal A’s remodeled food court.

To ensure a smooth experience, it’s advisable to check terminal maps and gate information upon arrival. Information screens are prominently placed throughout both terminals, providing real-time updates on flight statuses and gate numbers. Security & Screening

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)

The Sacramento Airport has security checkpoints located in both Terminal A and Terminal B. Terminal A has two security checkpoints, one located near the entrance of the terminal and the other near the gates. Terminal B has one security checkpoint located near the entrance of the terminal. All passengers are required to go through security before entering the gate area.

Fast Track Lanes and Locations

The Sacramento Airport offers TSA PreCheck, which allows eligible passengers to go through an expedited security screening process. TSA PreCheck lanes are available at all three security checkpoints in Terminal A and B. In addition, the airport offers a CLEAR program, which provides expedited security screening for members. CLEAR lanes are available at the security checkpoint near the entrance of Terminal A.

Passport & Immigration Control Locations

The Sacramento Airport has a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility located in Terminal B for international arrivals. Passengers arriving from international destinations will go through passport and immigration control at this facility. The CBP facility is open daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints

The Sacramento Airport has several TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints located throughout the airport. These checkpoints are designed to help expedite the security process for passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows eligible passengers to receive expedited screening at security checkpoints. To be eligible for TSA Pre Check, passengers must apply and be approved through the TSA Pre Check program. Once approved, passengers can use TSA Pre Check lanes at participating airports. At Sacramento Airport, TSA Pre Check lanes are available at all security checkpoints.

Global Entry Locations

The Sacramento Airport is an approved location for the Global Entry program. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. To apply for Global Entry, passengers must complete an online application and pay a fee. Once approved, passengers can use Global Entry kiosks at participating airports. At Sacramento Airport, Global Entry kiosks are located in the Customs and Border Protection area of Terminal B. Passengers must have their passport and Global Entry card or mobile app to use the kiosks.

the airport, also known as SMF, is a great airport for food and shopping. Terminal A and Terminal B both offer a variety of options for travelers to indulge in.

For those looking for a quick bite, Terminal A has a food court with a variety of options such as McDonald's, Starbucks, and California Pizza Kitchen. Terminal B also has a food court with similar options, including a Peet's Coffee and Tea. If you have more time to spare, there are also sit-down restaurants such as Iron Horse Tavern and Dos Coyotes Border Cafe.

In terms of shopping, both terminals have a variety of stores to choose from. From souvenir shops to luxury brands, there is something for everyone. Terminal A has a duty-free store, while Terminal B has a Brookstone and a MAC Cosmetics store.

In addition to food and shopping, SMF also offers a variety of amenities and services. Both terminals have charging stations for electronic devices, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the airport. Baggage Claim Areas

Upon arrival at the airport, passengers can easily locate the baggage claim areas in both Terminal A and Terminal B. The baggage claim areas are clearly marked and conveniently located near the exits. Passengers can expect their luggage to arrive on the baggage carousels within 10-15 minutes after their flight has landed. If you have any issues with your baggage, there are baggage service offices located in both terminals where you can report lost or damaged luggage.
