Getting Around BOM Airport
The airport features two main terminals for passenger services: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are physically separated and cater to different types of flights. Terminal 1, also known as Santacruz Airport, is used for domestic flights primarily operated by low-cost carriers. Terminal 2, located at Sahar, handles both international and domestic flights. Although the terminals share airside facilities, a landside drive of approximately 15-20 minutes is required to travel between them.
Terminal 1 is divided into several sections but operates mainly as a single entity now. It has 11 passenger boarding bridges and caters to airlines such as SpiceJet, Go First, and IndiGo. Terminal 2, on the other hand, is a larger, X-shaped building with four levels, 192 check-in counters, and 60 immigration counters for departing passengers. It also features 48 escalators, 75 elevators, and 42 travelators to help passengers move efficiently across its expansive area.
For those needing assistance, Terminal 2 is equipped with numerous amenities including a luxury lounge, transit hotel, and various retail spaces. Passengers can also make use of free WiFi services provided by Tata Docomo, although international travelers may find the access process more complicated. Navigating within each terminal is facilitated by clear signage and available airport staff who can assist with directions and information.

BOM Airport has security checkpoints located at various points throughout the airport, including at the entrance of each terminal and at the boarding gates. Passengers are required to go through security screening before entering the terminal and again before boarding their flight. The airport has implemented advanced security measures, including X-ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive detection systems, to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Passengers who wish to expedite their security screening process can use the Fast Track lanes at the airport. These lanes are available for passengers who have purchased Fast Track services or are members of certain airline loyalty programs. Fast Track lanes are located at each security checkpoint in both the Domestic and International terminals. Passengers using Fast Track lanes can expect shorter wait times and a more streamlined security screening process.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at BOM is located in the arrivals area of both the Domestic and International terminals. Passengers arriving on international flights will need to go through immigration control before collecting their baggage and exiting the terminal. The airport has implemented e-gates to expedite the immigration process for passengers with biometric passports. Passengers arriving on domestic flights do not need to go through immigration control but will need to present a valid form of identification at the security checkpoint before entering the terminal.

Baggage claim areas at BOM Airport are located on the ground floor of both the domestic and international terminals. Passengers can collect their checked-in baggage from the designated conveyor belts. The airport has installed digital display screens that indicate the flight number and the corresponding baggage belt number for the convenience of passengers. Baggage carts are available for passengers to use free of charge.
