IAD Concourse D Map & Guide
This page offers insights into Concourse D at Washington Dulles Airport, including details on its layout, amenities, and unique access methods using mobile lounges.
Concourse D Info & Layout
Concourse D at Washington Dulles Airport is part of the south midfield terminal and plays a crucial role in handling both domestic and international flights. Primarily used by United Airlines, this concourse accommodates all mainline flights and most United Express regional flights. Concourse D features 22 gates, numbered D1–D32, with odd-numbered gates on the north side and even-numbered gates on the south side.
Travelers at Concourse D can enjoy a variety of amenities and services, including dining options, retail shops, and comfortable seating areas. The concourse underwent a renovation in 2006, which included upgrades to light fixtures, new paint finishes, ceiling grids and tiles, and complete restroom renovations, enhancing the passenger experience.
Access to Concourse D is unique, as it is one of the few remaining areas served by Dulles's mobile lounges, also known as plane mates. These mobile lounges transport passengers to and from the main terminal, providing a distinctive mode of transportation. While the AeroTrain system serves other concourses, Concourse D is not directly connected to it, making the mobile lounges a notable feature for travelers.
Concourse D is connected to Concourse C, which together form the south midfield terminal. Passengers can move between these concourses, offering flexibility for those flying with United Airlines. The planned future development of a new and permanent C/D concourse, as part of the D2 Dulles Development Project, aims to further enhance the facilities and connectivity within the airport.
